The Agricultural College, Warangal has celebrated World Soil Day on 5th December, 2025. To commemorate the event, based on the theme of 2025 celebrations, “Healthy soils for Healthy cities” a guest lecture was arranged on the topic Impact of Solid Waste Mismanagement on Soil health by Dr. P. Sridhar, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT, Warangal. About 100 final year first year students, faculty have participated in the celebration co-ordinated by the Soil science department of the college. The program was started with the welcome address by Dr. T. Srijaya, Professor, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry who briefed about the importance of the programme. B. Saikumar, Manager Sales and Marketing, Chambal Fertiliser and Cheimicals has talked about the importance of micro and macro nutrients to the soil health and the role of balanced fertilizers in sustainable agriculture. Dr. V. Ravinder Naik, Associate Dean while addressing the students has informed the importance of soil in the food production, the role of urban farming in the future generation and the role of students in urban faming. Dr. P. Sridhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT, Warangal while delivering the guest lecture has informed the scenario of solid waste generation India, and issues the cities facing with the generation of huge solid waste management, the role of engineering and agriculture sciences in efficient solid waste management for the healthy soils to the future generations. Elocution, essay writing and poster making competitions were conducted to on the occasion and prizes were distributed to the students. Dr. U. Nagabhushanam, Professor and Head, Dr.S. Malathi, Professor and Head, Dr. B. Vidhyadhar, Professor and OISA, Dr. B. Raju, Assistant Professor, SSAC, faculty, students participated in the celebrations. The event was sponsored by Chambal Fertiliser and Cheimicals. The program was concluded with the vote of thanks.
