World Soil Day was celebrated on 5th December 2025 at Agricultural College, Palem to create awareness among students and staff about soil health, sustainable soil management, and its crucial role in ensuring food and environmental security. On this occasion, an awareness meeting and student activities were organized at the college. The event was organized by NSS Programme Officers, Smt. V. Sriramyaand Smt. N. Navatha, who coordinated all the activities. The programme was conducted under the guidance of In-charge Associate Dean, Dr. V. Anitha, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the need to conserve soil resources for sustainable agriculture.Dr.E.Satyanarayana, Assistant Professor, Dept. of SS&AC also explained the importance of soil biodiversity and the role of organic matter in maintaining soil fertility, encouraging students to adopt eco-friendly farming practices. As part of the celebrations, Essay Writing and Rangoli competitions were conducted for the students on the theme of Healthy soil for Healthy cities. Students enthusiastically participated and expressed their thoughts creatively, emphasizing the theme. The programme concluded with appreciation and acknowledgment of the winners of the competitions. The event successfully enhanced awareness among the students about the importance of soil resources and the necessity to protect them for future generations.
