Agricultural College, Jagtial celebrated World Soil Day 2025 at the adopted village Takkalapalli, Jagtial Mandal, on 5th December 2025. The theme for this year was "Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities" Dr. Bharati Narayan Bhat, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Jagtial attended the programme as the Chief Guest. She explained the importance of soil biodiversity and the need to protect and conserve soil for sustainable farming. Dr. G. Venugopal, Assistant Professor (SSAC) spoke about the importance of soil testing, soil conservation, and simple practices farmers can follow to maintain good soil health. Faculty members and Village Adoption Committee Members Dr. I. Thirupathi, Dr. T. Yellagoud, Dr. B. Sowjanya, and Dr. T. Archana participated and explained the importance of World Soil Day, shared crop management tips for Yasangi and Summer seasons, and discussed how Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) can benefit farming communities. Sri Sridhar, District Manager, IFFCO, gave a talk on using smart fertilizers like nano urea and nano DAP, and how they help improve fertilizer use efficiency. Final-year UG students and first-year PG students demonstrated the soil sampling process and explained different nutrient deficiency symptoms to farmers. Farmers participated actively and discussed their crop-related issues with the experts. As part of the celebration, the Department of Soil Science, along with the NRM Division, organized elocution, essay writing, and poster-making competitions at the college level to create awareness among students about soil health.
