The VittanaMahotsavam was successfully organized on 3rd June 2025 at the Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Tornala, with an objective to promote timely availability of quality seed to farmers before the onset of the Kharif season. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 198 farmers belonging to various villages from Siddipet, Karimnagar, Jagtial, Pedapalli, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, and Medak districts. As part of the Mahotsavam, seeds of five high-yielding rice varieties—JGL-24423, KNM-118, KNM-1638, JGL-27356, and WGL-915—and one redgram variety, WRGE-93, were made available for sale. A total seed value of ₹10,62,405/- was transacted during the programme. Among the paddy varieties, JGL-24423 recorded the highest demand with a total sale of 182.25 quintals, followed by KNM-118 (28.00 q), KNM-1638 (17.20 q), JGL-27356 (6.15 q), and WGL-915 (1.75 q). In redgram, a total of 0.39 quintals of WRGE-93 was sold. Farmers expressed full satisfaction over the quality of seed supplied by the university, reinforcing the credibility of PJTSAU's seed production and distribution efforts. A key highlight of the event was a “Farmer-Scientist Interaction Session” on “Best Management Practices in Various Crops,” conducted by Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS Tornala. She emphasized the critical role of quality seed in enhancing crop productivity, elaborated on the availability of seeds at ARS Tornala, and detailed scientific management practices for both transplanted and direct sown rice. The session also covered the significance of green manures, their selection, and cultivation techniques, encouraging sustainable farming among the attendees. The VittanaMahotsavam served as a vibrant platform to connect farmers with research, foster technology dissemination, and ensure access to superior quality seed—laying the foundation for a successful cropping season ahead.
