TRVK, Siddipet organized World Pulses Day on 10.02.2026 at Alirajpet village, Jagdevpur Mandal, Siddipet district. The theme for this year’s World Pulses Day was “Pulses of the World: From Modesty to Excellence”. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP), has explained the importance of pulses in providing essential nutrients for human health. She said that World Pulses Day is celebrated every year on February 10th to highlight the value of pulses. Pulses are rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They support heart health, help regulate blood sugar, and improve immunity. She also stated that pulse cultivation requires low investment and provides better profits. Pulses fix nitrogen in the soil, improve soil fertility, strengthen food security, and help prevent malnutrition. Farmers are earning higher income by cultivating crops like red gram, black gram, and green gram. She advised farmers to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and promote pulse cultivation. By growing pulses as alternative or intercrops instead of paddy and cotton, farmers can get higher returns with less water and lower investment. Later conducted Field day on New Bengal gram variety NBeG-776 for selective mechanization at Rajamallu Kistaiah farmers field. NBeG-776 is an erect-growing variety with pods borne above the ground, making it suitable for machine harvesting. It is tolerant to dry root rot and can yield about 8–10 quintals per acre with bold seed size. Later Mandal Agriculture Officer, Sri. U. Vasantha Rao has also suggested the other farmers to take the seed from farmers and grow in next season as the variety is excellent and suitable for harvesting with combined harvester. In this Programme AEO- Ms. Sharanya, Alirajpet Sarpanch Yellesh and 20 farmers were participated.
