TRVK, Siddipet conducted Training cum Awareness Programme on “Crop residue management in Paddy/Maize/HDPS Cotton followed by subsequent crops” at Venkatapur (V) Rythu vedika, Siddipet Rural (M), Siddipet district on 05.12.2025. Dr. G. Santhosh Kumar, Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala explained about the major crops which are grown in Telangana, management practices like bio-char making, incorporation of crop residues, conservation tillage. He described the role of crops and cropping systems on soil health. Later Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Coordinator & Scientist (CP) explained about pointed out that every year, around 290 lakh tonnes of crop residues are produced from three major crop like paddy, cotton and maize throughout Telangana per year and majority of the farmers burn these residues rather than adopting ecofriendly methods of incorporation into soil or composting for further use. She stressed the importance of insitu residue management involving leaving the residue on the field to be incorporated or mulched and exsitu residue management which involves collecting and transporting the residue for other uses like baled, biofuel production, animal feed. This approach reduces the need for burning, which pollutes the air, and helps recycle nutrients back into the soil. She also explained about different sustainable management practices for soil. In this programme MAO-Naresh, AEO-Navya, Coromandel company Scientist Pruthvi, Sales manager Siddareddy and 50 farmers participated. Later, on the eve of World Soil Day celebrated with farmers specially focusing on soil health management with slogan “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities".
