Training programme on “Production Technologies in rabi Sunflower” and “Input distribution for FLD’s” by ARS, Tornala on 25.10.25

A Training programme on “Production technologies of rabi sunflower along with “Input distribution for FLD’s” was organized at ARS, Tornala on 25-10-2025 by ARS & TRVK, Tornala. In this programme, Dr. G. Santhosh Kumar, Scientist (Agro.) and Head, ARS, Tornala enlightened on the importance of oilseeds in crop diversification, scope of oilseeds production in alternate cropping system and in paddy fallows. Dr. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro), explained about characteristics of sunflower hybrid seed (Tillhan tech SUN H-1) such as duration 90-95 days, with yield potential of 9-11q/ac with oil content of 39-40%. She also discussed about mechanization opportunities in sunflower and its advantages such as labour and time saving. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist, TRVK, Tornala explained about production technologies in sunflower important aspects such as water and weed management in oilseeds. Dr. A. Ramadevi, Scientist (Ento.), explained about pest and disease management in sunflower. Later, sunflower hybrid seed (Tillhan tech SUN H-1) were distributed to the sunflower FLDs beneficiaries. The programme was attended by 48 farmers of Mantoor and Anajpur villages.
