Regional Agricultural Research Station, AICRP on Kharif Pulses, Warangal organized Training Programme cum Distribution of Plant Protection Chemicals to FLD Pigeonpea farmers for the year 2025-26 on 24.10.2025 at the seminar hall, RARS, Warangal. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal, chaired the programme and delivered remarks about the farmers of cultivating pulse crops in a sequential cropping system, explained the importance of the pigeonpea crop, and he urged the farmers to increase the crop area to enhance production to meet the consumption demand of the State. Further, ADR advised the farmers to follow timely rendered agro advisory services from the scientists of RARS, Warangal, to implement the front-line demonstration with a competitive spirit for higher yields and to popularize the technology demonstrated. Later, the officer-in-charge of FLD Pigeonpea, Dr. M. Madhu, Scientist (Agronomy), briefed about the present situation of pigeonpea crop at different places and explained about Agronomic management practices at the critical stages of the crop and harvesting stage. Later, Dr. A. Venkat Reddy, Principal Scientist (Entomology), briefed about Plant protection measures, including the use of PP chemicals, in a better way to get better yields, and explained the importance of installing bird perches and pheromone traps. Dr P. Gonya Nayak, Scientist (Pl. Br.), explained the different varieties of Pigeonpea and their characteristics. Later, Dr. G. Padmaja, Scientist (Plant Pathology), explained about soil-borne diseases and their management practices in pigeonpea. Later, feed back was taken from farmers on the various aspects of pigeonpea cultivation. At the end of the programme, plant protection chemicals and pheromone traps were distributed to the beneficiary farmers. About 50 farmers from different mandals of Hasanparthy, Damera, and Hanamkonda district participated in this program, from Geesukonda, Tekumatla, and Athmakur of the Erstwhile Warangal district.In addition to the above, a Live demonstration was conducted on “spraying of insecticides through Drone” in Pigeonpea crop at D-block of RARS, Warangal, in which FLD, beneficiaries, Scientists of RARS, Warangal, and AELP students of Agricultural College, Warangal were involved. The primary purpose of conducting this demonstration was to create awareness on how to use drones for spraying, the advantages of using drones, and the safety measures to be followed. Dr. S. Omprakash, Scientist (Ento.), Cotton Section, RARS, Warangal explained the chemical aspects of drone spraying.
