Training programme on ‘Agroforestry systems’ and ‘Distribution of saplings and tools’ under Tribal Sub Plan (Agroforestry) at Yavapur village, Bommalaramaram mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on 16-07-2025.

A training programme on ‘Agroforestry systems’ and ‘Distribution of saplings and tools’ was organized by AICRP on Agroforestry, PJTAU, Hyderabad in co-ordination with DAATTC, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri at Yavapur village, Bommalaramaram mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on 16-07-2025 under Tribal Sub Plan (Agroforestry) funded by ICAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute (CAFRI), Jhansi, U.P. The programme was attended by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Pr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, Dr. D. Vijaya Lakshmi, Scientist (SSAC) and Dr. M. Ramesh, Scientist (Pl. Br) from AICRP on Agroforestry, Dr. D. Sreelatha, Co-ordinator and Dr. B. Anil Kumar, Pr. Scientist (Ento.) from DAATT Center, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Sri V. Raja Trivikram, MPDO, Smt. Shanthi Nirmala, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Yadagirigutta, Smt. N. Durgeshwari, Agricultural Officer, Bommalaramaram mandal from Department of Agriculture and 24 farmers of Yavapur village. At the outset, Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi welcomed all the dignitaries and farmers for the training programme and also narrated main objectives as distribution of saplings and certain tools and enhance awareness about Agroforestry. Dr. Ramanjaneyulu explained about silviculture techniques for profitable cultivation of sandalwood, soapnut, redsanders, eucalyptus, subabul, mahogany, malabar neem, fruit trees (mango, custard apple, guava, jamun), concepts of bund plantation, border plantation, paired row systems, income from intercrops, marketing issues etc., in detail. Dr. Ramesh spoke on linking planting saplings with NREGS programme free of cost and also importance of fruit/forest tree species in our daily life. Dr. Sreelatha explained about nutrient recycling in agroforestry systems and subsequent enhancement in soil fertility. Dr. Anil Kumar told that 33% area is required under forest trees for ecological balance, hence, economically important tree species can be planted on farm lands. Further, he suggested optimum and final cut-off dates for sowing different crops and precautionary measures for protecting the rainfed crops in view of prevailing dry spell. Mr. V. Raja Trivikram assured that the total cost of purchase of saplings, pitting and planting will be borne under NREGS for those who possess job cards. Shanthi Nirmala and Durgeshwari suggested the farmers to follow the timely advises given by scientists and agriculture department officials for reaping higher yield and profits from agroforestry and agricultural crops. Mr. Raju Naik, contact TSP beneficiary farmer thanked all the officials for selecting the Yavapur village under TSP. At the end, 15 battery operated sprayers, 15 loaping shears, 15 tarpaulins, 1400 saplings (Mahogany, Bambusa tulda, custard apple NMK-1 golden) were distributed to 15 beneficiary farmers of Yavapur village.
