Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Palem organized Pre Kharif Campaign as a part of Rythu Mungitlo Shastravethalu programme at Yathmathapur village, Tadoor Mandal, Nagarkurnool District on 16.05.2025. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, PC, KVK, Palem addressed the gathering and emphasized on the overview of the programme “Raithu Mungitlo Sastravethalu” and the major objectives where highlighted the themes of the programme viz., Reducing the cost of cultivation by reducing the urea usage in various crops particularly paddy, Judicious usage of the plant protection chemicals, Securing the seed/chemical bills, Crop diversification, Planting trees to protect the vegetation and ecological balance, Conscious & cautious usage of water resources etc. Further, discussed the right usage of the fertilizers in major crops of the village (Paddy, maize, cotton) and instructed the to avoid the late sowings, follow the proper sowing windows in various crops as climate change, fluctuations have become the major concerns. Educated the farmers to procure the particularly university varieties which will be available from third week of this month. Farmers can also for inter crops viz., Cotton+RG, RG+GG/BG, RG+Maize/jowar. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (PP) emphasised on judicious use of the plant protection chemicals and major focus can be given on usage of biorationals, Biological control agents, Pheramone/Sticky traps/ for monitoring and mass trapping of pests & diseases, Intercrops/Trap crops/Border crops, green pesticides. Sri. D. Sandeep Reddy, MAO, Tadoor highlighted the more focus also can be given on livestock in the village and instructed them to be cautious of spurious seed and also enlightened the farmers to enrich the microbial fauna of soil by enriching with organic carbon. A total of 91 farmers, KVK staff, department of agriculture staff, students were participated.
