The Red Ribbon and Social Activities Club of Agricultural College, Palem, has organized an extensive AIDS Awareness Programme on 1st December 2025, in observance of World AIDS Day. The initiative reflected the institution’s commitment to promote student health, social responsibility, and community awareness. The programme was held in the college premises with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and invited medical professionals. The programme was honoured by the presence of two distinguished guest speakers:

Both experts shared valuable insights based on their extensive medical experience, providing students with a scientific and practical understanding of the issues discussed. The event began with a welcome address and an introduction to the theme of World AIDS Day, emphasizing the global importance of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. Following this, Dr.V. Haripriya delivered a detailed session on the medical, social, and psychological dimensions of HIV/AIDS. She addressed key topics such as modes of transmission, preventive measures, the importance of early diagnosis, and the need to eliminate stigma and discrimination against affected individuals. Her talk highlighted the crucial role that young adults play in spreading awareness and maintaining a healthy society. Dr. A. Rohit Kumar presented an equally informative session focused on youth health, the vulnerabilities of adolescents, and the significance of developing correct health-seeking behaviour. He elaborated on the precautions young people must take to safeguard themselves from infectious diseases. He also explained the fundamentals of HUB (Health, Understanding, and Behaviour) awareness, stressing how awareness and responsible decision-making contribute to long-term wellbeing. In addition to AIDS, awareness, on blood donation and organ donation was also created. The speakers explained the scientific and humanitarian importance of voluntary blood donation, dispelled myths associated with the process, and encouraged students to participate in blood donation drives. The segment on organ donation covered legal guidelines, consent, ethical considerations, and the life-saving potential of organ transplantation. These sessions aimed to foster a sense of social commitment and community service among the student body. The event was attended and supported by Dr. B. Puspavathi, Associate Dean, and Dr. V. Anitha, Professor (Entomology), who motivated the students to actively participate and stressed the importance of such awareness programmes in educational institutions. Their encouraging words highlighted the college’s dedication to promote holistic student development. Throughout the programme, the students showed keen interest, interacted with the speakers, and clarified doubts related to health, hygiene, disease prevention, and responsible citizenship. The sessions were structured to be both informative and engaging, ensuring that participants gained a deeper understanding of the issues discussed. The programme concluded with a rally in the campus premises and the theme of worlds AIDS day “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response” was given as slogans. Finally ended with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guest speakers, faculty, organizing committee and students for contributing towards the success of the event. The event was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. V. Swarnalatha, In-charge of the Red Ribbon and Social Activities Club, who ensured that the awareness message reach the student community effectively. The Red Ribbon and Social Activities Club reaffirmed its commitment to organize more health-oriented activities in the future.
