Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize & Millets), visited the maize minikit KMH 22-1 at Gussapur village, Siddipet Rural Mandal, Siddipet district on 22.01.2026 along with Dr. Y. Chandra Mohan, Director, ARI, Dr. B. Mallaih, Principal Scientist (Plant Pathology), Dr. D. Sravani, Scientist (Plant Breeding), Dr. Ch. Anusha, Scientist (Entomology) of MRU, ARI, Rajendranagar, Dr. A. Saritha, Scientist (Plant Breeding), ARS, Tornala, and Ms. Navya, AEO, Gussapur. During the visit, the team evaluated the growth and performance of the maize minikit, assessed fall armyworm incidence and interacted with farmers to record their feedback and field-level constraints. During field visits to maize crop across Siddipet and Hanamkonda districts, detailed interactions were held with farmers on major production constraints, including weed infestation, fall armyworm damage and post-flowering stalk rot. Farmers were also sensitized on the importance of maize cultivation and the growing demand for maize grain, particularly in view of its expanding use in bioethanol production. Later, Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize and Millets) visited ARS, Tornala for a technical inspection of Maize Breeding, Agronomy and Entomology research, reviewed ongoing experiments, interacted with scientists, and provided valuable guidance on maintenance breeding, hybrid development and improved production and protection technologies and also visited the Karimnagar Makka certified seed production fields at Mulkanoor village of Bheemdevarapalli Mandal Hanmakonda district along with the Scientists of ARS, Karimnagar .
