Report on Parthenium Awareness Week Observed at Agricultural College, Aswaraopet from 16 – 22 August 2025.

Parthenium Awareness Week was organized at the Agricultural College, Aswaraopet from 16–22 August 2025 under the guidance of Associate Dean Dr. J. Hemantha Kumar. The programme aimed to create awareness about the harmful effects of Parthenium on human health, animals, crops and soil. On the occasion, Dr. J. Hemantha Kumar garu emphasized the adverse effects of Parthenium, particularly severe skin allergies and respiratory problems, while Dr. I. V. Srinivasa Reddy Professor, Department of Horticulture motivated the students to take the lead in making their villages Partheniumfree. Mrs. D. Sravanthi, NSS PO explained the students about propagation and seed dispersal, germination, management in cropped and non-cropped areas. Dr. P. Jhansi Rani, NSS PO explained about integrated management of Parthenium including mechanical, cultural, biological and chemical methods.

  • 16-08-2025: An awareness programme was conducted in campus, coordinated by Mrs. D. Sravanthi and Dr. P. Jhansi Rani, who also led eradication activities with students. Dr. I. V. Srinivasa Reddy, Dr. Jambamma, Dr. Neelima, Dr. Sravan, Dr. Shireesha and Dr. Shravika along with non-teaching staff and students participated in the programme.
  • 18-08-2025: Eradication drives were organized within the college premises involving enthusiastic participation of students.
  • 21-08-2025: Eradication drive conducted at farm section in the campus, teaching staff and students actively participated in the drive.
  • 22-08-2025: Dr. J. Hemantha kumar, Associate Dean and Dr. Ravi conducted awareness camps in RAWEP villages along with final-year students, sensitizing rural communities about the threat of Parthenium
