KVK, Palem organized a Field Day cum Demonstration of a cotton Shredder in HDPS Cotton under the Special Project on Cotton on 18.12.2025 at the field of Sri. Kishan, Gangaram village, Bijinepally (M), Nagarkurnool (D) where final pickings had been completed. In Gangaram village, farmers have adopted HDPS cotton over an area of 65 acres. It was observed that after completion of pickings, some farmers leave the crop standing for a longer period, while others resort to burning crop residues. In view of this, KVK, Palem introduced the use of a cotton shredder and created awareness on scientific crop residue management practices. Dr. P. Sreedevi, Programme Coordinator, KVK Palem, interacted with the farmers and highlighted the role of KVK in popularizing HDPS cotton technology and explained the major objectives of the Special Project. She also emphasized the importance of crop diversification. Dr. P. Prashanth, SMS (Agricultural Extension) explained the operational aspects of the cotton shredder and highlighted best practices for effective crop residue management. Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (Plant Protection) emphasized the importance of Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPDM) practices in cotton as well as in upcoming rabi crops. Sri. Kishan, an HDPS cotton farmer, shared his experiences and the benefits realized through the adoption of HDPS technology. Sri. R. Gopal, Sarpanch, Gangaram village, expressed his appreciation for the services rendered by KVK, Palem to the village and encouraged farmers to effectively utilize KVK advisory and technical support. In this programme Dr. P. Sreedevi, PC, Dr. O. Shaila, SMS (Plant Protection), Dr. P. Prashanth, SMS (Agrl. Extn) R. Raghuvaran Singh YP II, Rajesh Kumar, Y. Sultan YP I, B. Harish, KVK, Palem and Sri. R. Gopal, Sarpanch, Gangaram and 52 farmers were participated.
