Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bhadradri Kothagudem promoted and distributed bio-fortified paddy variety Dhan-48 released by the Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Hyderabad to farmers of Chunchupally and Laxmidevipally mandals on 24.12.2025. Dhan-48 is a bio-fortified variety with high zinc content (22–27 ppm) intermediate amylose content (23–26%) and a milling recovery of 69%. In the afternoon, along with RAWEP students, frontline demonstrations were conducted and participated in on cotton stalk incorporation instead of burning followed by greengram cultivation and an on-farm trial on promotion of groundnut variety Vasista through sowing activity at Machinenipet village, Julurpad Mandal. Later, the team visited the field of Best Farmer Sri Porandla Saidulu, a progressive tomato grower at Julurpad Village and Mandal and facilitated him with the Best Farmer Award. The award was presented at his field as he could not attend the Kisan Diwas programme held yesterday due to health reasons.
