International Pulses Day were organized by the Regional Agricultural Research Station and Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra of Warangal on 10th February,2026. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, Central Telangana zone, who participated as the chief guest, spoke about how pulses are useful in providing nutrients and proteins in our daily life and also that their cultivation makes the soil fertile. Dr. A. Vijaya Bhaskar, Co-Ordinator, Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra, Warangal, speaking on the occasion of International Pulses Day through a “Power Point Presentation”, said that pulses are the “backbone” of sustainable agro-food systems and that “nurturing soils and people”.Pulses are essential for a green future and “Healthy soils, healthy environment, healthy people, healthy planet”he suggested. Later, the Principal Scientist of Dr Venkat reddy , Dr Rukhmini devi , Dr A.Posadri and Pulse section scientists of the research station thoroughly explained farmers about the profitable pulse crops that farmers should take up, nutritive values ,market demand,new varieties,the fertilizer management, crop protection measures and modern methods for achieving high yields in pulses and clarified their queries. As part of this program,several farmers who are growing pulses and getting high yields were felicitated.In the“Cooking Competition” organized as part of this program, the students were felicitated and certificates of appreciation were given to the students for the various dishes prepared with pulses.On the occasion of International Pulses Day, pulses were distributed to orphans and the poor. In this program,Warangal and Hanumakonda districts agricultural officers, agricultural scientists, RAWEP students and farmers participated in large number and made it a success.
