The Green Graduation Ceremony Programme was organized on 15.11.2025 at BJR Agricultural College, Sircilla, as part of PJTAU’s institutional initiative to instil environmental stewardship among newly admitted undergraduate students. During the programme, Dr. K. B. Suneetha Devi, Associate Dean, emphasized the importance of ecological responsibility. Each student was provided with a sapling to plant, nurture and geo-tag as a compulsory component of their eco-responsibility commitment. All the teaching non-teaching staff and students are participated in the programme. A total of 110 saplings were planted by the newly admitted UG batch students as part of the Green Graduation initiative. The name and ID number of each student along with the details of the sapling species are enclosed separately. The GPS coordinates for each planted sapling are currently under progress. A Green Graduation Committee has been constituted, comprising faculty advisors, the Farm Superintendent, Farm Manager, and OISA for effective monitoring and implementationn. The programme successfully promoted environmental sustainability through awareness activities and active student involvement, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among students and minimizing the ecological footprint of the event. During the implementation, certain challenges were encountered, including limited land availability to accommodate all students, higher student strength than available planting space, and insufficient water resources, particularly during summer. To overcome these issues, it is suggested to identify or allocate additional land for future programmes and arrange alternative water sources or adopt water-saving measures, especially during the summer season. Students actively participated despite resource constraints, demonstrating commendable enthusiasm towards green initiatives. The programme helped develop a strong sense of environmental responsibility among students. Close monitoring of the survival rate of saplings will be important owing to water scarcity. Additional support from staff and volunteers enabled smooth coordination. The initiative also highlighted the need for improved resource planning for large student groups in future programmes.
