Homestead technologies generate income by integrating small-scale agricultural production with value-added processing and artisanal crafts. The profitable strategies include value-added products, vermicompost, handmade accessories, saree rolling, poultry rearing, kitchen gardens and so on which are easily marketed through social media or local farmers' markets to reach direct consumers. The homestead area is not utilized in a very planned manner rather this is used indiscriminately. A home bakery is a highly accessible income-generating venture with low entry costs. The most profitable bakery items often include customized cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies and artisan bread, due to high perceived value and low cost of ingredients with good margins, whereas pretzels, muffins, donuts and savoury snacks offer excellent returns through volume and convenience. The key factors are low material cost, ease of batch production and premium pricing for unique, customized or artisanal offerings. Also, saree rolling (or roll pressing) is a viable, high-demand small business in India, particularly as a home-based unit offering potential for significant income generation through services like stiffening, polishing and pressing to keep delicate and traditional sarees in pristine condition. The small-scale and home-based saree rolling units can earn about Rs. 4000 – 5000 per month and with proper marketing, these units can generate much higher returns. In view of the potential for establishing a home bakery, KVK, Wyra and KVK, Rudrur organised exposure visit to Nutri Bakers Hub under AICRP on Women in Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad for sensitising the farm women and farmers on opportunities at household with minimum investment by Scientists Dr. Jessie Suneetha W and Dr. G.
