Exposure visit to KVK, Malyal by MYRADA NGO on 24-04-2025

The women farmers from MYRADA (Cotton Connect) NGO, Thorrur, Mahabubabad conducted exposure visit to KVK, Malyal on 24-04-2025. Sri K. Dinesh, Farm Manager explained about demo units (Vermicompost, HDPS Mango) maintained at KVK instructional farm to the participants. He also explained about sowing of HDPS Cotton with precision vaccume planter and incorporation of cotton stubbles with Shredder. Sri B. Kranthi Kumar explained about concept of HDPS Cotton. He also explained about importance, need and procedure for Soil sample collection and testing. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) explained about suitable horticultural crops can be taken up in Cotton fallow and management practices to be done during summer and preceeding to Kharif crops. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal requested the participants to take up HDPS Cotton planting in larger area for ensuing season. She also suggested that Cotton crop should be terminate by end of November/December and go for next crop with Pulses (Greengram, Blackgram) or Maize which helps in reducing incidence of pink boll worm as well as for getting additional income from taking second crop. 200 women farmers from Cotton – Connect MYRADA NGO participated in the programme.
