Entomology Showcase at Agriculture Education Day 2025

Entomology Showcase at Agriculture Education Day 2025

The Agricultural Entomology stall was a key highlight of the Agricultural Education Day exhibition held on 3rd December 2025 at the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, PJTAU, Hyderabad. The stall served as an interactive platform to educate students and the public on insect diversity, pest identification and sustainable pest management. Live displays of major crop pests with host plants enabled visitors to observe feeding behaviour and characteristic damage symptoms. An insect museum featuring preserved specimens of pests, pollinators, predators and parasitoids, along with life cycle exhibits, provided a scientific understanding of insect biology and classification. Sections on stored grain pests and improved storage systems emphasized the importance of post-harvest protection. Various monitoring tools—light traps, sticky traps, pheromone traps and pitfall traps—and sprayers illustrated surveillance and field-level pest management technologies. IPM components, including cultural, mechanical and biological control, were demonstrated with emphasis on ecological sustainability. Biological control agents such as ladybird beetles, lacewings, Trichogramma and entomopathogenic fungi were showcased. Special displays on apiculture, sericulture, lac production, Black Soldier Fly technology and edible insects highlighted their economic and environmental significance. Creative insect-based products and an interactive photo booth further enhanced student engagement.
