The training on Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PME) of Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects focuses on building the capacity of officers to design, implement, and assess livestock development initiatives effectively. Participants learn to plan programmes by setting clear objectives, identifying resources, and designing activities aligned with national and local livestock goals. The training also emphasizes the use of tools like logical frameworks, performance indicators, and work plans to ensure efficient resource use and measurable outcomes. Monitoring and evaluation components of the training strengthen participants’ ability to track progress, assess performance, and measure impact using both resource-based and animal-based indicators. Trainees gain practical exposure to methods such as progress reporting, field visits, and data analysis to identify challenges and make timely corrections. By the end of the programme, participants are equipped to ensure the effectiveness, sustainability, and accountability of animal husbandry projects, contributing to improved productivity, disease control, and livelihood enhancement. The Extension Education Institute (EEI), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad has organized On-campus training programme on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects in ARD Sector for the Fisheries and ARD Department officers of Odisha state from 11th -15th November, 2025 at EEI, Hyderabad. The content of the programme was- Over view on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects, Evaluation concepts Types & Methods of Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects, Developing and Identifying Indicators for Monitoring and Evaluation in Animal Husbandry projects and programmes, Project formulation and Proposal development for Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects, Hands on Experience in Web site development and Publication of Web Page, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Stakeholders consultation in Animal Husbandry Programme and Projects, Field Visit to NRC Meat, Chengicherla, Visit to Farms of PVNRTVU to get orientation on Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects, Visit to Sid’s farm to understand the planning and monitoring the activities of dairy farm and milk testing procedures, Hands on Training on usage of Plantix app, Development of QR codes, Google Forms, GI Based Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects, Impact analysis of Animal Husbandry Programmes and Projects and Gender budgeting and GOI Schemes, and EEI Blog orientation. Dr. M. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Director, EEI, Hyderabad said that, the success and refinement of the pogrammes and projects mainly depends on effective planning, dexterous monitoring and precise evaluation. This will be most applicable for the programmes and projects of Animal Husbandry sector, where Rashtriya Gokul Mission, Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme, Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund, National Livestock Mission etc are being implemented for the benefit of livestock farmers. The Objectives of the programme were- To know the Concepts of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Animal Husbandry Programme and Projects in ARD Sector, To comprehend the tools and techniques in planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of Animal Husbandry Programme and Projects in ARD Sector, and To understand the logistics in formulation, monitoring & evaluation of programmes and projects in ARD Sector. Skills imparted in the training programme were- Planning skills in formulation of Animal Husbandry programmes and projects, Monitoring skills in making midterm corrections in Animal Husbandry programmes and projects, Evaluation skills in understanding the results of Animal Husbandry programmes and projects, Skill in identifying the indicators of Impact assessment of Animal Husbandry programmes and projects, Creating digital/ online tools for planning, monitoring, evaluation of Animal Husbandry programmes and projects, Skills on Website development with regard to promotion of Animal Husbandry programmes and projects and Skill in preparation of road map under back home planning. Methodology followed in the programme was Presentation by eminent speakers/experts, Interim interactive sessions, Simulation exercises, Brain storming, field visits and Individual and Group assignments. Valediction was presided over by Dr.R.Vasantha, Professor, EEI, Hyderabad and participants felt that the insights gained from this training programme will be highly useful for successful implementation of Animal Husbandry programmes at back home situation. Fourteen officers of ARD Department, Odisha State were attended the training programme, which was coordinated by Dr. M. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Director, EEI, Hyderabad.
