Dr. Y. Chandra Mohan, Director, ARI, Rajendranagar visited the maize Breeder (BML 105) and certified hybrid seed (DHM 117 & DHM 206) production fields at Mulkanoor village of Bheemdevarapalli Mandal Hanmakonda district on 22.01.2026 along with Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize & Millets), Dr. B. Mallaih, Principal Scientist (Pl.Path) , Dr. D. Sravani, Scientist (Pl.Br) and Dr. Ch. Anusha, Scientist (Ento). During the interaction, Sri Aligi Reddy Praveen Reddy, Chairman, Mulkanoor Cooperative Society, highlighted the challenges faced by farmers, the profits realized through maize hybrid seed production and the present agricultural scenario in Telangana. As part of the field visit, the Director (ARI) interacted with the seed-growing farmers and enquired about the differences between hybrid seed production and normal maize cultivation practices and profits generated and emphasized the role of Telangana as the “Seed Bowl of India” and advised farmers to become more technically sound by utilizing scientific guidance and information provided by the scientists. He also highlighted the initiatives of Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) in implementing quality seed at every village (QSEV), aimed at enhancing seed quality, productivity, and farmers’ income across the state.
