A guest lecture on “Stress Management” was organized on the occasion of World Mental Health Day (10th October, 2025) by the Health & Fitness Club of Agricultural College, Adilabad. The event was held in the Second-Year classroom and aimed to raise awareness about mental health and equip students with practical techniques to manage stress effectively. The session featured Dr. L. Omprakash, Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, as the guest speaker. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. G. Anitha, Associate Professor, Department of Entomology, followed by a brief note on the importance and objectives of the Health & Fitness Club presented by Dr. M. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) and Club Incharge. Dr. L. Omprakash began his lecture by defining stress and explaining its major causes, particularly those linked to academic pressure, competition, and personal expectations. He distinguished between eustress (positive stress), which motivates individuals to perform better, and distress (negative stress), which hampers mental well-being. Emphasizing the need for mental balance and self-awareness, he shared practical strategies to cope with stress, such as meditation, time management, regular physical exercise, maintaining healthy relationships and seeking timely support when needed. The session also included an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students actively participated and gained valuable insights from the resource person. Faculty members and students from the Second and Third Year attended the programme with great enthusiasm. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. J. Arthika, a Third-Year student, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker and organizers. Overall, the lecture was highly informative and enriching, providing students with valuable knowledge and practical tools to manage stress and enhance their overall mental and emotional well-being.
