ARS Karimnagar - Celebration of National Farmers Day in Adopted Village

National Farmers Day also known as Kisan Diwas was celebrated at adopted village Choppadandi of Karimnagar District on 23rd December, 2025. The day honours the contributions of farmers to the nation’s growth and development. This day marks the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, also known as the “Champion of Indian Farmers” and a true friend of farmers, renowned for his deep understanding of rural issues and unwavering advocacy for farmers’ welfare. The day is observed to honour the country’s farmers’ unwavering dedication and recognise their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s progress.At the outset, Dr.E.Rajanikanth, Scientist (Agro.) and Adopted Village Incharge sensitized the farmers and detailed about the good agricultural practices to be followed in maize and zero tillage maize, the major pest and disease incidence and necessary precautionary and control measures to be followed by the farmers in major crops of the village. Dr. G. Usharani, Scientist (Plant Breeding) detailed the farmers on the cold management in paddy nursery. The Agricultural Extension Officers Smt. Ramya Jyotsna encouraged the farmers to participate in large numbers and make use of the knowledge imparted by the scientists for reaping high benefits along with conservation of natural resources for future generations sustenance. The programme was followed by Field Diagnostic visits in farmers fields of paddy nursery, maize, and necessary precautionary and remedial measures were suggested to the farmers. The Agricultural Extension Officer Sri. Sampath and around 38 farmers from Choppadandi village and mandal of Karimnagar have participated in the successful conduct of the programme. The celebration of National Farmers Day serves as a reminder to support agricultural development, promote farmer welfare, and acknowledge the challenges faced in the farming sector.
